When life feels uncertain, it can be hard to know what to hold onto. Whether you’re walking through unexpected change, emotional overwhelm, or a season that feels unclear, God’s Word gives us truth to steady our hearts. Here are 5 biblical truths to help you renew your mind and stay anchored in faith.
When Everything Around You Says “Renewal”… But You Don’t Feel It
The birds are singing, the trees are in bloom, and the sun has been shining here in the Chicagoland area.
Everything around me is pointing to renewal.
And yet… if I’m being honest, life on the inside feels quite the opposite.
Have you ever had a moment where it feels like the rug was just pulled out from under you?
That’s where I’ve been.
🌿 A Season of Waiting… and Then Unexpected Change
After many years of trying to figure out what was best for our family—homeschooling, co-schooling, co-ops, private school—we finally felt like we had landed exactly where the Lord wanted us.
It felt settled. Peaceful. Clear.
Which made sense… because my word for 2025 had been wait.
And we did.
But not passively—actively, in the Lord.
Trusting. Praying. Surrendering.
And then, unexpectedly… everything shifted.
And suddenly, I find myself back in that place of uncertainty again.
📖 What the Bible Says About Renewal
For 2026, there was one word that kept resurfacing on my heart:
Renewal.
But not the kind we see in perfect routines or fresh starts.
The kind that happens quietly. Internally.
The kind that begins in the mind.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” — Romans 12:2
Renewal isn’t just something we witness in the changing seasons.
It’s something we’re invited to participate in—daily.
Especially when life doesn’t go the way we expected.
5 Biblical Truths to Hold Onto When Life Feels Uncertain
So what does it look like to renew our minds in Christ when everything feels shaken?
Here are 5 truths I’m anchoring my heart in this week:
1. God Is Not Surprised by What You Didn’t See Coming
Even when I feel caught off guard, He is not.
He is steady, present, and already ahead of me.
“Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure.” — Psalm 147:5
2. Uncertainty Doesn’t Mean I’m Outside of His Will
Just because things feel unclear doesn’t mean I took a wrong turn.
God often works in the in-between.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” — Proverbs 16:9
3. You Don’t Need the Full Plan—Just the Next Step
Faith isn’t about having clarity for the whole path.
It’s about trusting Him in the next small step.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
4. Your Thoughts Need Truth, Not Spirals
Left unchecked, our minds will run to fear.
Renewal means gently bringing those thoughts back to what is true.
We take every thought captive to obey Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 10:5
5. God Is Still Renewing You… Even Here
Not after this season.
Not once things feel easier.
Right here, in the middle of it.
Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” — 2 Corinthians 4:16
Renewal Isn’t About Rushing—It’s About Returning
If I’m honest, part of me wants to rush past this and “fix the rug” as quickly as possible.
But I’m learning that maybe renewal isn’t about rushing forward…
Maybe it’s about returning—again and again—to truth.
